About Nathan

I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults with OCD and anxiety.

If you have OCD or anxiety, you are all too familiar with endless doubts, unwanted thoughts, and painful worries. You may feel misunderstood by family, friends, and even past therapists. With the right approach, OCD and anxiety are very treatable.

My goal is to use evidence-based treatments that help clients feel better as quickly as possible and in a way that lasts.

While every person is different, I believe that the initial positive effects of well-designed OCD and anxiety therapy should be felt in weeks, not months or years. And this isn’t just my own idea — the clinical research tells us it’s possible.

My job is to collaborate with you to make a plan that will free you from endless loops of anxiety, worry, and obsession.

To do this, we’ll draw on the best treatments available and design a way forward that is effective and a good fit for your unique situation.

Background and Training

I am a proud member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). I have presented workshops for children and adults at the annual IOCDF conference for several years in a row.

I have received specialized training in the field of OCD and anxiety therapy, which guides my work every day. A few highlights:

  • I gained practical experience through a year-long clinical internship at the New England Center for OCD and Anxiety (NECOA), where I received training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), considered the gold-standard treatment for OCD.

  • I completed my graduate practicum experience with Dr. Anna Allmann, where I received specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety disorders.

  • I completed extensive training in Rumination-Focused ERP (RF-ERP) with Michael Greenberg, its creator. This approach guides my clinical work with OCD.

  • I received hands-on training and clinical consultation in Inference-Based CBT (an evidence-based OCD treatment) from Catherine Goldhouse, LCSW, who is one of the earliest practitioners of this modality in the United States.

Prior to joining the mental health field, I was an elementary and middle school teacher for many years. This experience informs my understanding of child development and my clinical work with children and families.

I earned a BA with high honors from Swarthmore College, and an MA in Mental Health Counseling from the City University of New York (CUNY), Baruch College.

Clinical Supervision

By receiving ongoing clinical supervision, I am able to provide clients with better care. Supervision is considered best practice for therapists. It allows us to collaborate with other experts in the field, think through our treatment plans, and receive support and guidance. The primary goal is always to provide the best therapy possible for our clients.

I receive clinical supervision from Anna Allmann, PhD. Anna specializes in treating OCD and anxiety disorders and has experience working with clients of all ages. She obtained specialty postdoctoral training in the treatment of OCD and its common co-occurring disorders at Harvard Medical School’s McLean Hospital (OCD Institute). More recently, Anna worked as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University, where alongside valued colleagues, she spearheaded the launch of Columbia’s Anxiety Day Program, which provides intensive and accelerated care for adolescents with severe anxiety, OCD, or school avoidance. She has published several book chapters and peer-reviewed research articles on parenting, OCD, depression, COVID impacts, and the development and trajectory of mental health over the lifespan. Anna received her PhD in clinical psychology from Stony Brook University, one of the top ten programs in the nation.
